This week Delta kicked off its fifth year of support for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which included Delta’s signature, “pink plane”.
If you haven’t seen it already, this unique plane with its pink and white body features BCRF’s trademark pink ribbon logo on the tail of the aircraft and adjacent to the boarding door. Since its launch, the plane has flown throughout the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean to generate awareness for the cause.

To get this year’s festivities off to a rockin’ start, Hard Rock International PINKTOBER™ Ambassador Melissa Etheridge held an in-flight concert from New York to Washington, D.C. on board the chartered pink plane singing her hit song, “I Run for Life” with the words altered to “I Fly for Life” in honor of the event. The flight included Delta employee breast cancer survivors and Etheridge fan club members.
In addition to the pink plane festivities, during the month of October, Delta flight attendants will don limited-edition pink dresses and pink uniform accessories and patrons can order pink lemonade onboard all flights with 100% of the proceeds going toward this great cause.
Delta employees also join in the fight for the cure, by purchasing pink items, including this year’s Delta and BCRF co-branded T-shirts, distributed at Pink Boutiques set up at airports, Reservation Sales call centers and at World Headquarters. Last year, employees and customers alone helped Delta raise $500,000 for BCRF through donations and pink product sales.
