We’ve heard an overwhelming amount of concern for Paco, a Dachshund/Jack Russell Terrier mix that escaped from his kennel while traveling through Mexico City airport. We have been working over the past few days to gather all of the details. Our employees conducted exhaustive searches at the airport and the surrounding areas to locate the dog and they are continuing search of the surrounding area. Know that we’ve also been involved in ongoing conversations with Paco’s owner to keep him informed.
We understand that pets are an important part of the family and regret the circumstances of this unfortunate situation. We take pet travel very seriously and do everything possible to ensure that all animals travel safely and securely. In fact, in 2009 Delta safely transported over 70,000 animals. We ask that you help us maintain the safety of all pets by ensuring that all passengers traveling with animals review and follow the pet travel guidelines, which are designed to prevent these extremely rare instances.
We thank you for your outpouring and share in your concern.
