Greetings Money Saving Lords and Ladies. It looks like Indianapolis is beginning to thaw out. The warm weather is on its way, the Colts play this weekend, and Monday is a national holiday. Could it get any better than that? Of course it could silly. Free stuff makes everything better. And many Indianapolis attractions will throw their doors wide open on Monday to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. So over the next few days, stayed tuned right here on Indy’s Queen of Free to learn what awesome opportunities await you.
Possibly the best way to celebrate Monday would be to visit the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park & Landmark for Peace Memorial. Remember Dr. King’s dream while gazing at another beautiful downtown Indianapolis monument. You might recall from your high school history class that Robert Kennedy was campaigning in Indianapolis when the sad news that Dr. King had been assassinated reached our city. Kennedy delivered a memorable speech to the shocked and grieving residents of Indianapolis. This landmark was built to celebrate the accomplishments and dreams of both of these great leaders.
I love how both figures of the monument are still reaching – still hoping to accomplish the dreams they planted in the hearts of so many so long ago. And they beckon us to keep striving for those dreams, not just on next Monday, but everyday.
